Nozzles

Cooling Tower Products:
Nozzles

Nozzles are a key item in the use of any packed column. The performance of a system relies on the effective use of the media within it. If the media is not evenly and fully wetted out, the system will not reach its full potential. Nozzles provide the means to ensure full use of all the surface area that the media provides. In cooling towers nozzles can also play an important role in boosting cooling performance by enhancing evaporation in the spray zone between the nozzles and the fill.

Proven Know-how and Test Data for Superior Applications

L S Enterprise LLC has a comprehensive understanding of different nozzles and their applications. We also have our own test data to support the piping/layout designs that we can provide for various applications.

AccuSpray

Designed for use in counterflow applications with a pressurized distribution system, the AccuSpray nozzle provides a wide-ranging field of small droplets which maximize air-water interaction and boosts cooling performance. Intended to have a large overlap between adjacent nozzles, the result is uniform coverage over the media at a low operating pressure. In addition to being efficient and non-clogging, the AccuSpray nozzle is durably constructed from polypropylene for a long service life.

The AccuSpray nozzle and its adapter are offered in varying thread types: RC, H, & NPT. Adapters fit 4in [101.6mm], 6in [152.4mm], & 8in [203.2mm] pipes via specific matching adapters and a Flat adapter is available for larger diameter pipes. A wide range of nominal orifice sizes – 0.75in [18mm], 0.875in [22mm], 1.0in [25mm], 1.125in [29mm], 1.25in [32mm], 1.375in [35mm], & 1.5in [37mm] – are offered and are color-coded for ease of identification. A thread-type converter and a nozzle extension are also available to improve flexibility with installation requirements.

DekSpray

The DekSpray nozzle system provides a solid square pattern spray pattern and has a long history of proven performance backing it up. Designed for use in counterflow applications with pressurized distribution systems, DekSpray nozzles are offered in four (4) flow ranges (1-A, 1-B, 1-C, & 1-D) appropriate for lower to higher water flow rates. The recommended operating range of water pressure at the nozzle is between 2-10psig [14-69kPa]. Proper system design has the spray pattern of adjacent nozzles meet at their edges with minimal overlap where the spray hits the fill. There are several nozzle adapters available that allow for different installation methods.

CF-CES2

This is an innovative nozzle design for use in counterflow applications with pressurized distribution systems that provides a solid cone square spray pattern. It has a very open clog-free design. This nozzle is designed to have the spray pattern of adjacent nozzles meet at their edges with minimal overlap where the spray hits the fill. The CF-CES2 nozzle must be positioned correctly to ensure even distribution. Please consult with us for the correct application of this nozzle.

The connection for this nozzle is a 2in [50.8mm] male NPT thread. It can be used with a standard female adapter or the bolt-on adapter shown with the nozzle in the picture. The adapter is available for 4in [101.6mm], 6in [152.4mm], 8in [203.2mm], & 10in [254mm] pipes. Available orifice sizes are: 0.75in [19.1mm], 0.875in [22.2mm], 1.0in [25.4mm], 1.125in [28.6mm], 1.25in [31.8mm], 1.375in [34.9mm], & 1.5in [38.1mm].

CF-CES1.5

Intended for use in counterflow applications with pressurized distribution systems, this is an inexpensive nozzle design that provides an irregular, round spray pattern. The pattern is not completely solid. It works best when the patterns from adjacent nozzles overlap to provide even coverage. The CF-CES1.5 nozzle has a single internal orifice that makes it resistant to fouling. The connection is a 1.5in [38.1mm] male NPT thread. It is available with five (5) different orifice inserts to allow proper operation over a range of flow rates. Available orifice sizes are: 0.75in [19.1mm], 0.875in [22.2mm], 1.0in [25.4mm], 1.125in [28.6mm], & 1.25in [31.8mm].

CF-LHD2

As with other counterflow nozzles, this nozzle is used in pressurized distribution systems. The CF-LHD2 nozzle provides a hollow cone square pattern. Most of the water is thrown to the edge of the pattern, so adjacent nozzles need to be positioned to provide a lot of overlap for full water coverage over the fill. This nozzle has a very simple design with no internal parts to clog. There are two different thread types. The nozzle on the left (above) has a 1.5in [38.1mm] male NPT thread. The nozzle on the right (above) has a 1.5in [38.1mm] self-tapping tapered thread, which is designed to be screwed directly into a 1.875in [47.6mm] hole drilled into a PVC pipe. Available orifice sizes are: 0.75in [19.1mm], 0.875in [22.2mm], 1.0in [25.4mm], 1.0625in [27.0mm], 1.125in [28.6mm], & 1.5in [38.1mm].

XF-Crown

This nozzle provides an irregular round spray pattern similar to the CF-CES1.5 nozzle. The overall pattern is good to excellent, provided there is sufficient overlap from adjacent nozzles. Typical spacing between nozzles should be 6-12in [152-305mm] on center. Designed for use in crossflow applications with open gravity-driven pans, this nozzle fits in a 1.75in [44.5mm] hole drilled in the distribution pan. Water depth in the distribution pan should be 2in [5mm] or more to have sufficient head for proper spray pattern formation. It is available with eight different (8) orifice inserts to cover a wide range of flow rates. The vortex breaker on the top of the nozzle ensures a consistent water flow rate over a wide range of conditions. Available orifice sizes are: 0.5in [12.7mm], 0.625in [15.9mm], 0.75in [19.1mm], 0.875in [22.2mm], 1.0in [25.4mm], 1.125in [28.6mm], 1.25in [31.8mm], & 1.375in [34.9mm]

XF-LH11

The XF-LH11 nozzle provides a hollow cone round spray pattern. The pattern is poor, but this nozzle is very resistant to clogging. It is intended for use in crossflow applications with open gravity-driven pans, and the minimum water depth in the distribution pan should be 4in [101.6mm]. This nozzle is primarily recommended when one needs a high specific water loading ( > 30gpm/ft2 [44.2 L/sec/m2]), and there are large pieces of solids in the water. The XF-LH11 nozzle fits into a 1.75in [44.5mm] hole drilled in the pan. It is available in the following orifice sizes: 1.0in [25.4mm], 1.125in [28.6mm], & 1.25in [31.8mm].
